CHERRY has announced it has launched a dedicated gaming keyboard featuring CHERRY red MX switches in the UK. The new keyboard boasts full “N” key rollover which allows multiple keys to be pressed simultaneously, a feature required by the gaming community and impossible to do on a normal non-gaming keyboard. This feature is particularly useful in first person shooter (FPS) games, such as Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3®
CHERRY’s gaming keyboard is mechanical rather than membrane-based and the red-stem CHERRY MX switches have a low operating point and low pressure requirement and are extremely responsive, vital to win games where split seconds count. Its N Key rollover feature is unlimited when using PS2 and 6KRO when connected via a USB port, a limiting feature of USB ports rather than the keyboard. The vast majority of gamers prefer a mechanical keyboard and CHERRY is the world’s leading manufacturer of this technology, as well as being the longest-established manufacturer of keyboards, with millions in use in homes and businesses across the globe. Until now, the CHERRY gaming keyboard has only been available in the Far East, but the company recently took the decision to market them here when market research identified the level of demand from UK gamers for the keyboards. Initial shipments have just arrived and the company has concluded a deal with CHERRY retailer, The Keyboard Company, which is marketing them on an exclusive basis.
Bruce Whiting, Managing Director of The Keyboard Company, comments: “The CHERRY gaming keyboard with red-stem MX switches and full N Key Rollover is likely to be in very high demand as both its technical pedigree and build quality are impeccable. ZF Electronics is one of the best switch makers in the world and we have been selling its CHERRY keyboards since our company was founded in 1989. Mechanical keyboards for gaming are technically greatly superior to non-mechanical gaming keyboards and what’s interesting is the increased recognition of the technology underpinning these products by the gaming community itself. Around a year ago, I would have said that around 10% of gamers were aware of the advantages of using a mechanical keyboard, but now I would say awareness is probably more than 50% and seems to have been driven by the power of online gaming forums. Realising the growing demand for CHERRY’s gaming keyboard in the UK, we were delighted to obtain an exclusive retail agreement with the manufacturer. The CHERRY gaming keyboard with red-stem MX switches is available through our website at www.keyboardco.com for £90 plus VAT including postage and packing.”
