Global Program Director, Consumer Electronics - UK

Now emerging from stealth mode, this European start-up is about to launch a genuinely revolutionary range of consumer electronic technologies. They are well-funded with a highly qualified management team and a distinguished board of directors.

They are competing with only a handful of other companies for a share of a clearly recognisable multi-billion dollar market. With strategic partnerships and customers falling into line, they have a pressing need for an experienced Programme Director responsible for delivering a product design ready for introduction into volume production.

The company is headquartered in the UK with their key consumer market the United States. Manufacturing and assembly is under negotiation in Eastern Europe and the Far East, making this a truly world-wide role.

Candidates must have extensive experience in the full life cycle of a successful new consumer electronics product, preferably with a recognised US or global brand.

This entails participation in senior management strategy; creating and delivering on complex and technical roadmaps from design to retail. The successful candidate will be required to hire and manage Product Design Engineers and Project Managers across multiple sites internationally.

Previous experience:

• Has been primarily responsible for project managing the design of at least one successful consumer electronics product.
• Has a demonstrable track record of effective leadership and people management in large development projects requiring the successful integration of software, hardware, mechanical and industrial design.
• Has completed projects from ‘the ground up’ (i.e. not just iterations of previous designs).
• Intimately familiar with best practice in electronics product design including design for manufacturability and test, production ramp-up and product approvals.
• Delivery of roadmaps to mass-market manufacturing through third parties.
• Has worked effectively with external suppliers to deliver complex product designs.
• Excellent leader and communicator.
