picoChip today announced that the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA – formerly the FSA – Fables Semiconductor Association) has appointed Guillaume d’Eyssautier, its President and CEO, to the GSA Board of Directors.

In addition to his new role, Mr. d′Eyssautier will continue to serve on GSA’s Europe, Middle East and Africa Leadership Council (EMEA).

“I am very pleased that Guillaume d’Eyssautier has been added to the GSA Board of Directors,” said Jodi Shelton, GSA co-founder and executive director. “Guillaume will represent the EMEA community, and will be an advocate for emerging companies. This serves to fulfil GSA’s mission to support innovative, entrepreneurial fuelled companies, as well as our efforts to further global representation within our leadership.”

“I am delighted to serve on GSA’s Board of Directors,” said Guillaume. “picoChip has benefited to a great extent from its membership of GSA, and it will be an honour for me to repay this by contributing to the goals and principles of the organization to further guide GSA’s initiatives.”Educated in France, Guillaume joined picoChip from Cadence Design Systems, where he was senior vice president and general manager EMEA.

Prior to joining Cadence, Guillaume served as vice president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at IBM Technology Group, which was comprised of IBM Microelectronics and Storage. About picoChip

picoChip, located in Bath, England, is dedicated to providing innovative, flexible wireless solutions to help equipment makers minimize time-to-market, costs, and system power consumption.

The heart of the company’s offering is a scaleable, multi-processor baseband IC that combines the computational density of a dedicated ASIC with the programmability of a traditional high end Digital Signal Processor. This radically reduces both development time and materials cost and enables the strategic goal of the “Software Defined Radio”.

The company has the most comprehensive reference designs in the industry, with complete, standard-compliant solutions for both UMTS (including HSxPA) and WiMAX (802.16d upgradeable to 802.16e).
