Responding to explosive growth in all three of its major optoelectronic market sectors, CAO Group has promoted Dr. Gary Maag to General Manager of its Optoelectronics Division, with over-all responsibility for the division’s three business units: components, solid state signage, and solid state lighting. Dr. Maag had been Director of the Signage Business Unit since joining the company early last year from Autometer, specialty suppliers to the automotive industry, a major market for CAO components and LED-PCB assemblies.
Earlier in his career, he spent 10 years in manufacturing operations for a medical diagnostics company, and 10 years in the HR/Training department at Nestle Foods. His education includes an Associates degree in instrumentation and a Bachelors in technical business management, both from Utah Valley University, followed by a Masters degree and a doctorate from Cambridge State University in Honolulu. He has also taught electro-mechanical engineering at his alma mater, Utah Valley.
According to CAO Group Founder, President and CEO Dr. Densen Cao, Maag’s new position will add coherence to CAO Group’s mix of horizontal structuring for engineering and operations and vertical structuring for sales. All the company’s opto products share an underlying technology, Dr. Cao said, but they make their way to different customer types through different channels.
In addition to its optoelectronics businesses, CAO Group manufactures a variety of products for medical, dental and forensic applications.
